On-demand tutoring app enables a small business to connect students and tutors at scale.

The Homework Helper App offers on-demand tutoring that empowers students to achieve their full potential.
Its mission is to revolutionize educational support by integrating pop culture with ed-tech.
Homework Helper founder Rachel Puleo successfully used Slack to connect tutors and students. When she wanted to expand the company's reach, she decided to create an on-demand tutoring app.
Rachel initially started working with a California-based software agency with overseas developers. The developers spent months working on Rachel's app with little to show.
After months of the overseas developers missing deadlines and publishing a non-functioning app to the App Store, Rachel decided to cut ties with the company and had to start over.
She consulted her network for advice on how to proceed and connected with JMG to share her experience working with overseas developers on its Constant Variables podcast. After getting to know the JMG team via the podcast, Rachel decided to work with them to build her app.
Before coding began, JMG scheduled a weekly Zoom meeting with Rachel to discuss development updates, created a Slack workgroup for daily communication, and organized a Trello board to track progress.
JMG built an iOS app in SwiftUI with features that allow tutors to set up profiles with introduction videos, sample lesson plans, and certifications. Students can also set up profiles and request tutoring sessions, and the app seamlessly facilitates payment between the two.
The iOS app quickly started generating revenue for Homework Helper, and development of the Android version is in progress.
